← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Add full MARC records to CZ for OverDrive and Kanopy

    OverDrive and Kanopy collections have recently been added to the Alma Community Zone. We're thrilled at this possibility, as it should help consortium members manage their collections better. However, the brief MARC records are wholly unexpected given that the company provides MARC records to subscribers.

    If it is contractually possible, please add the company's MARC records to the CZ for corresponding portfolios, as this will aid in discovery and efficiency for both the consortium and member libraries.

  2. Naxos Sheet Music Library

    Since Naxos Music Library is supported, can records for their Sheet Music Library be added into the CDI, please?

    The content changes monthly, but the vendor told us they send updated lists (spreadsheets) to libraries upon request.

  8. Add Engineering Workbench to Alma CZ

    Please consider adding "Engineering Workbench" to the Alma CZ. This database used to be known as TechStreet but has merged with a different and new company and has a new interface and URL.

  9. Add Open Access eBooks from the publisher intercom Verlag, Zürich to the Knowledgebases

    The young publishing house intercom Verlag at Zürich (Switzerland) is publishing Open Access ebooks in the Humanities.
    It would be great to add an eCollection of these ebooks to the Community Zone in Alma to make these fine books available.

  10. Add Open Access eBooks from the Publisher Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen, Germany to the Knowledgebases

    The Wallstein Verlag has published a number of open access eBooks in the humanities, and the number is increasing.
    It would be fantastic if these OA eBooks could be made available as an eCollection in ALMA.

  11. Sage Business Cases Indigenous Business Stories Project

    Sage, one of Ex Libris's existing provider partners, has launched a new free Business Cases collection, the Indigenous Business Stories Project. According to Sage, this is a free collection that features studies of businesses founded by Indigenous entrepreneurs. Sage says this collection will give students an understanding of sustainable, community-driven business practices. This collection will expand the global business perspectives represented in CZ content, and because it is free to access, many libraries will likely be interested in activating it in the CZ.     Please add ProQuest access numbers for collection id 613170000000000058. When patrons find these records in Primo and create Resource Sharing requests, our RS team needs to spend too much time searching for the access numbers so that they can purchase copies of dissertations.

    Hello,

    Please consider to add the content of Quaderni di Dodis, a Swiss academic series which intend to widen publication possibilities in the fields of contemporary history and foreign policy and to offer an attractive and easy way to publish for young academics.

    Currently, a portfolio exists in two e-collections, but the content is not indexed in the CDI, so it's not possible to find the articles in Primo.
